Residential Interior Design Project: Darras Hall.
The Brief
Our recently completed project is a lovely House in Darras Hall, Ponteland. The clients, Debbie and Mark, found us via Facebook, started following our page then made an enquiry.
The brief covered 3 main areas - the garden room, hall and landing. They asked us to change the look of the pine ceilings in the sun room, which has a stunning vaulted ceiling, hall and landing and to turn the garden room into a more useable space with lots of interior touches. All three areas had track lighting which the client wanted to replace with more stylish lighting and two of the bedrooms needed new lighting too. As with all of our projects we started off with a free initial meeting to fully understand the scope of the project. The client’s favourite style is New England style so we incorporated that into the brief. Once we understood the brief, we provided a full quote including trades, styling etc. We then worked with the clients to produce a mood board which included everything from paint colours to light fittings and accessories. Once the clients were happy with the initial mood board, we worked on it in more detail, giving the client access to their own on line mood board. We used this to share ideas until the right pieces, colours etc were chosen.
The next step was to arrange schedules and oversee the trades. Work got underway with the first fix electrics and then the decorators came on site to start the painting. Once the decorators were finished their extensive work, the electrician completed the final fix and fitted all of the new lights. We oversaw each element of the works, liaising with the trades, arranging timings and finally checking the completed works to ensure that both Debbie and Mark were satisfied.
The final part of the project was to style the garden room. We kept the table, chairs and sofa and added a rug, large arched light and picture that the client sourced. We styled the sofa with a new throw and cushions, the client’s new side tables were accessorised with plants and candles and the dining table was accessorised with a runner and hurricane lamps. A new radiator cover was also added to the sun room and hall. We then added a few additional pieces to the hall and stairs to bring it all together.
