Hope you having a good start to the Summer, despite the heavy downfalls we are having.
Let’s stay indoors until the weather picks up and have a look at some interior trends. We’d like to share with you some of the trends for this year. Although we aren’t slaves to trends, we like to keep our eye on the ball. There are lots of different trend lists so this is our summary of what’s coming.
Alfresco bathing
During Covid we saw a huge increase in Wild Swimming, swimming in the sea, lakes, and rivers, with the positive effect it had on health and mental health. We are now seeing this trend in people’s homes with outdoor baths and dip pools becoming extremely popular.
Regular baths can be utilised, Victorian baths are very popular, but you can also get the specifically made dip pools to allow people to have the benefit of a cold outdoor dip without leaving their garden
Antique style furniture
Not necessarily the type of furniture that would spring to mind as Antique, but mid-century furniture has become more popular. Brands such as Ercol who have designed classic furniture since the 1920s are extremely popular and are bringing out new ranges, their pieces are also being copied by all types of designers.
The classic shapes with beautiful woods often elm and oak are being seen in many interiors, along with the chairs and sofas. Have a look at Ercol and Barker and Stonehouse, who have lots of this style.
All things golden
The trend for all things gold is continuing, particularly in lighting and accessories. Gold works well in neutral schemes and dark colour schemes.
Modern lights with glass and gold, are available in most retailers with budgets to suit all. Hurricane lamps, candle holders and gold ceramic bowls add a richness to the simplest of schemes and again are available in all budgets. Gold ceramics are now becoming popular in all shapes and sizes.
Lighting
Two main trends are being mentioned when it comes to lighting. One new trend is for white Lights, with shaped bases and white shades. It’s about stripping out the colour and highlighting the shapes of the lights themselves, so they are more of a sculpture. These lights go well in Minimal spaces and scandi interiors, as well as other styles.
The other lighting trend is portable lighting, lighting that can be used anywhere, they are usually battery charged and can be used outside as well as indoors.
Although these types of lights have been around awhile, they are now more stylish versions in lots of assorted styles, to suit different interiors and gardens. See Neptune and Dunelm for examples.
Colours neutrals to darks
For 2024 it has been suggested that neutral schemes will become even more popular again with Scandi schemes and minimalist schemes still being popular,
For darker colour enthusiasts’ warm brown tones are expected to play a big part this next year. Check out Farrow and Balls pages for more inspiration.
Wherever you look there are different trends, this is just an example of what's out there. Everyone’s taste is different, and we would suggest you follow your own style but have fun with an odd item or two.
